Olden Is Golden Africa SACCO !
We are excited to announce that we are establishing the Olden Is Golden Africa SACCO (Savings and Credit Co-operative Society). This initiative was specifically requested by Olden Is Golden Africa founding members.
This member-owned, non-profit cooperative will promote a culture of saving and provide affordable, low-interest credit specifically for the elderly. These funds empower them to enhance their livelihoods through entrepreneurship, agriculture, or other sustainable business ventures. Low interest loans will rescue them from the hands of informal moneylenders (sharks), whose terms are often predatory.
Every contribution creates a ripple of change, bringing us one step closer to making this goal a reality. Truly, every bit counts toward restoring the dignity and financial independence our elders deserve and rescue them from 'loan sharks'.
Olden Is Golden Africa recognises that "Olden is indeed Golden." The mission is to treat these traders as the reliable entrepreneurs they are, rather than as "high-risk" liabilities. After all age is an asset, not a risk.
About Olden Is Golden AFRICA
Olden Is Golden Africa is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) primarily dedicated to improving the lives of the elderly. Based in Tanzania and Ireland,the organisation operates under the guiding principle that aging should be a "golden" experience, focusing on making seniors feel visible, valued, and supported.
We live by the statement ‘Olden Is Golden’, spearheading global change for the elderly on the world stage and in grassroots campaigns.

- As a registered CLG in Ireland our work is to leverage on the amazing work done by Charities supporting old people in Ireland.
- In Ireland, Olden Is Golden Africa provides essential advice, guidance, and support to elderly migrants.
- We curate meaningful events designed to foster full integration, ensuring our seniors feel valued, cared for, and connected to their community.
- Whether they are newcomers or long-time residents navigating the transition from a busy career to retirement, many find themselves without a routine and feeling lost.
- By facilitating opportunities for migrant and native Irish seniors to connect, we promote positive integration and ensure our elders truly enjoy this final chapter of their lives.

OUR CURRENT FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES
€100,000 to establish a specialised Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (SACCO) in Tanzania for the elderly.
€150,000 to establish our very first Community hub in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. This is just the beginning; our vision is to build five hubs in total—four across mainland Tanzania and one on the beautiful island of Zanzibar.

What We Do
Our mission is to ensure the elderly are visible, valued, and supported. We want to create more inclusive communities where older people are kept centre stage of day-to-day interactions and have full access to every aspect of life. This includes social, economic, political, and cultural opportunities. We currently work with communities in Africa predominantly, although we work to campaign for a shift in how we treat the elderly worldwide.

That’s why we provide fun trips, social clubs, and even disco nights! To our clients, these are more than just social events.
